Annual Meeting and Election Results

The Section’s Annual Meeting was held on May 18, 2022, and 13 people attended. The following officers were elected to serve on the Section’s Governing Council from 7/1/2022 to 6/30/2023:

  • Vice-Chair: Colin Hunter Hargreaves, Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
What diversity, equity and inclusion goals did the Section include in the 2020-2021 work plan, how did you approach these goals, and what was the result?

  • Hosted CLEs on topics related to racial justice, advocacy, ethics, and mental health.
  • Engaged a wide variety members by hosting a mix of in-person and virtual events, golf outings in both Western and Northern Minnesota, and a presentation for law students on preparing for OCI from an employers’ perspective.
  • Hosted several events in collaboration with the New Lawyers Sections of other bar associations, including the HCBA, RCBA, and FBA.
  • Engaged with the profession on a national level by sending members of the Section to the ABA Midyear Meeting and ABA YLD Spring Conference.

Other Section Accomplishments

  • Hosted a successful day-long virtual New Lawyers Leadership Conference.
  • Hosted 7 in-person events, the greatest number of in-person events hosted by the Section since the 2018-2019 bar year.
