10:00-11:00AM: Structural Steel Design and
Construction
If steel construction looks like the erector set we had
when we were kids, it’s not. Each of the steel elements in a building from the
columns, beams, to the plates connecting them all are usually one of a kind.
Designing, fabricating, and coordinating the erection of the steel built
environment can become a challenge from this complexity. This presentation will
cover a couple of the delivery methods for structural steel buildings, the parts
that go into them, and the roles that different parties play to help ensure a
positive outcome, and a couple examples of not so positive outcomes which we can
take lessons from.

11:00AM-12:00PM: Delay and Damage
Analysis
Alex McBride will discuss the how and why of an expert
witnesses’ analysis. Building a strong and collaborative relationship between
client, counsel, and your expert can lead to increased efficiencies and better
integration amongst key stakeholders. Mr. McBride will review suggestions for
initial fact-finding, preliminary analysis, level-setting and strategic
decisions and how those can impact potential delay and damage methodologies. As
part of this presentation, he will discuss various delay and damage analyses and
the key considerations about when and how to deploy them.
