Remote Only Event
Attorneys adopt habits and patterns for many good
reasons. Efficiency and quality control are just two. Still, we
as attorneys may develop practices for counselling our clients or drafting
health care directives that need rethinking to meet the needs of individuals with
different cultural backgrounds and lived experiences than our own.
Staff members from VOA Culturally Responsive Caregiver Support and Dementia
Services and Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid will share from their experiences serving
individuals of African American, East African, and Hmong
heritage. These perspectives may help attorneys neutralize stigmas standing
between well-intentioned providers of legal services and the clients they seek to
serve.
