Restorative Practices have been
on the rise as a harm reduction approach and alternative to juvenile arrest
and incarceration. The Minnesota School-based Youth Diversion Model
is a Minnesota legislative-funded pilot project to divert youth to mental health
support, chemical health intervention, and restorative conflict resolution instead of routing to law
enforcement personnel and perhaps the County Attorney's Office. The model describes a three-pronged
approach to responding to the types of behavior in schools that have historically resulted in
police officer
intervention.
