Event Description
This
presentation will give a history and overview of donor advised funds (DAF) and
how they are currently regulated. The Minnesota Council of Nonprofits has
proposed an amendment to Minnesota’s Supervision of Charitable Trusts and
Trustees Act which would require charitable trusts transferring funds to DAFs to
include in their annual trust filing with the office of the attorney general an
itemized list of all grants and contributions made or approved for future
payment during the year from that DAF. The purpose behind this amendment
would be to increase transparency and encourage compliance with restrictions on
the funds even after transfer.
