Commission on Judicial Selection Announces One Vacancy and Extends Application Deadline for Another Vacancy in the Second Judicial District
[ST. PAUL, MN] – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that a vacancy is occurring in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District. The vacancy will occur upon the appointment of the Honorable Jennifer L. Frisch to the Minnesota Court of Appeals. This seat is chambered in Saint Paul in Ramsey County.
In light of the announcement of the above vacancy, the Commission on Judicial Selection also announced today that the deadline to apply for the other upcoming vacancy in the Second Judicial District, created by the retirement of the Honorable Judith M. Tilsen, has been extended from May 11, 2020 to May 15, 2020.
The Commission is searching for fair, experienced, and civic-minded individuals to serve on the bench and offer their talents and services to Minnesota’s judicial system. The following qualities will be considered for judicial office: integrity, maturity, health (if job related), judicial temperament, legal knowledge, ability, experience, and community service. The application process is now open for this vacancy.

A cover letter and resume should also be submitted with the application. Application materials for both vacancies are due by close of business on Friday, May 15, 2020 and should be addressed to the Chair of the Commission, Ms. Lola Velazquez-Aguilu. Interviews are expected to be held during the last week of May. Selected candidates will be notified of the interview date.
