Join the MSBA Immigration Law Section on Friday, May 3rd
for a behind-the-scenes tour of Customs and Border Protection at the MSP
International Airport.
Outline:
- Introduction to CBP’s operations
- Description of inspection process, including
secondary inspection (Attorney access, contacts, and representation in the
secondary inspection process)
- Expedited removal issues (Attorney access, Appeals,
Forms, and process of expedited removal and future consequences for
immigration purposes including inadmissibility and deportability)
- I-94 issues (How to obtain electronic I-94, who to
contact if there are I-94 issues, and requests for additional evidence)
- Global Entry Program (What is Global entry, who
qualifies, how clients can apply and the attorney's role in the process)
- APC Automated Passport Control (Explanation of the
automated system including background checks and universal scanning)
- Mobile Passport Control (Recent efforts of Customs
and Border patrol including reviewing social media accounts)
- FOIA requests and responses including paper requests
(How to request client's entry and exit history, how to request a client's
entire Customs and Border Patrol file, common FOIA issues, Appeals of FOIA
requests)
- Requests for redetermination following an adverse
finding by CBP (Process of redetermination and immigration consequences of an
adverse finding)
- Tour of facilities (5-10 mins)
- Q & A.
