MINNEAPOLIS— Jeff Baill becomes the 101st president of the Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA) on July 1. Baill is a partner at Yost & Baill, where he practices in the area of insurance subrogation. His practice focuses on complex loss issues in disaster recovery. He has 40 years of experience in the subrogation industry where he has tried cases, supervised lawyers, and consulted with insurance companies. Baill was the lead subrogation counsel on the I-35W bridge collapse.
In addition to his decades of practice experience, Baill is a leader in the association world. He founded the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) and served on its board of directors for 19 years. He was given the NASP Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. In 2007, Baill was awarded the Don Kramer Award from the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys. He is a frequent speaker in the areas of insurance subrogation for companies and bar associations.
Baill is active in the community. He has served in numerous position for the United States Tennis Association, most notably on the Executive Committee, and as chair of the Presidents Committee, which consists of the presidents of the 17 sections of the USTA. He currently serves on the USTA Board of Directors. Baill is also a past-president of the Sabes Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park.
Baill graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan, and he earned his J.D. at Hamline University School of Law.
Serving with Baill in the HCBA leadership for the coming year is the executive committee, including newly elected HCBA Secretary Landon Ascheman (Ascheman Law), who begins the five-year leadership track (to serve as president for 2022-23). Daniel Willing (RBC Wealth Management) serves a one-year term, representing the New Lawyers Section.
