The U.S. Census Bureau has projected that by the year
2050, if not sooner, the United States will not have an ethnic majority. Susan
Brower, Minnesota’s state demographer, will discuss how these demographic trends
are playing out in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Dr. Brower will present data on the
increasing diversity of the state and Twin Cities region, with a special
emphasis on the growing Latino population. She will also present recent changes
in aging, poverty, unemployment, and educational attainment in Minnesota and
discuss the implications of these trends.
