The Solo and Small Firm Section has four standing committees. Members of the section are invited to join the committees and become involved in the work of the section.
- Workshops, CLEs and Seminars Committee - will investigate, research, and develop high quality workshops, seminars, and CLE programs for the members of the Section.
- Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee - will research, study, and report on the effectiveness of current rules and other current laws for the prevention of the unauthorized practice of law; to recommend new rules and laws to better prevent unauthorized practice; and, to create a public education program emphasizing the danger to the public of dealing with unlicensed providers of legal services.
- Legislative Committee
- Membership and Communications Committee - will support the goals and purposes of the Section by communicating with the members of the Section, of the MSBA as a whole, and with the public, regarding topics including CLE and other educational opportunities, social and networking events, developments concerning the MSBA, and any other information deemed useful. It will prepare and distribute an electronic newsletter at least quarterly. It will promote the growth of the SSF Section, provide and maintain a means of inquiry and feedback and facilitate responses thereto. It will acknowledge the Section’s dependence on the MSBA and its members. The committee will perpetually develop tools to maintain and increase membership in the Section and will regularly assess the benefits of membership in the Section and in the MSBA and provide the Section Council with recommendations.
