Other Section Accomplishments
For many years, the Outstate Section had become a fairly stagnant section.  I feel that in the last 4-5 years, we have made great strides in reviving the section and picking up steam and participation.   We have started to expand the geographical scope of Council members, and have all undertaken an effort to grow the section membership.

The section members have done great things in connection with other MSBA groups, such as Dennis O'Toole's work with the Nine Days in June program and Paul Carlson's work with the Civil Litigation Section.

We have also raised our dues in order to provide the section with more resources with which to continue our efforts to expand membership and bring awareness to the issues facing outstate attorneys.

During January of 1998 the Outstate Practice Section distributed a member directory to all members of the section. It is hoped that the distribution of this directory will encourage members of the MSBA who practice in the outstate area to establish and maintain professional relations with each other.

The section is asking any members practicing in the outstate to indicate their interest in serving on the Section Board or on any activities on behalf of the section. Interested members should contact Section Chair Michael J. Ford.
