The MSBA's International Business Law Section Presents

"The Ex-Im Bank: what it does and why it is so vital to exporters and commercial lenders"

The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank or the Bank) is an independent executive agency and a wholly-owned U.S. government corporation. Ex-Im Bank is the official export-credit agency of the United States. Its mission is to support U.S. jobs by facilitating the export of U.S. goods and services, by providing competitive export financing, and ensuring a level playing field for U.S. goods and services in the global marketplace. Ex-Im Bank does not compete with private sector lenders but provides export financing products that fill gaps in trade financing. It assumes credit and country risks that the private sector is unable or unwilling to accept. It also helps to level the playing field for U.S. exporters by matching the financing that other governments provide to their exporters.

The Minneapolis office was opened in July 2012 to bring Ex-Im Bank products to Minnesota small business exporters. This presentation provides an overview of the export finance products and their benefits to exporters and commercial lenders.
