New MSBA Consumer Litigation Section | Formed April 28, 2011
The MSBA’s General Assembly unanimously voted to recognize us as a formal Section. Thank you for joining this important Section! Thank you to those who were able to join our sold-out inaugural event featuring U.S. Magistrate Judge Keyes and Hennepin County District Court Judge Reilly with their “Perspectives from the Bench: Consumer Litigation Cases.”
While the practice of consumer law is always evolving, we envision a section that touches upon financial regulations – both state and federal – and their impact on the individuals and companies those laws regulate. With the recent economic crisis, more and more consumers are exercising their legal rights under a variety of financially-related laws. As lawsuits progress throughout our court systems, judges are charged with deciding what constitutes a violation, and what remedies are available to consumers. This section aims to focus on these issues through a variety of high-quality programs.
