"Discussion on 2013 Predictions and Hot Legal Issues for Bankruptcy Practitioners"

William Fisher and Stephen Creasey will conduct a lively discussion on what likely will occur in 2013. Such topics will include changes in the court and local rules, outlook for personal and commercial bankruptcy practitioners, filing trends, pro bono needs, and post-election effects on the bankruptcy world. Prior to the CLE, the section will hold its monthly business meeting.

William Fischer, Partner - Gray Plant Mooty

• Tufts University, summa cum laude, 1982

Bill practices in the areas of reorganization and bankruptcy, commercial law, and creditors' rights. He also has represented lenders of all types, including equipment lessors and financiers, real estate mortgage lessors, creditors' committees, a Chapter 11 trustee, Chapter 11 debtors, and Chapter 7 debtors. Bill teaches courses on business law at Metro State University and is a frequent lecturer and author at legal education seminars on bankruptcy, the U.C.C., finance, and consumer law. He has also taught the U.C.C. at William Mitchell College of Law and banking law at Hamline University.

Stephen J. Creasey - Lapp, Libra, Thomson, Stoebner & Pusch
• 1979 Graduate of the University of South Dakota
• 1985 Graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law

In private practice in Iowa from 1985 until 1987 then in private practice in Minnesota from 1987 until 1990 with a focus on consumer debtor bankruptcy. In 1990 became General Counsel to J. J. Mickelson, Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the District of Minnesota until Mr. Mickelson's retirement in 1998. From 1999 until 2001 returned to private practice in Minnesota representing creditors in bankruptcy cases. In 2001 became the Career Clerk for the Honorable Nancy C. Dreher until May 2010. Presently with the firm of Lapp, Libra, Thomson, Stoebner & Pusch, Chartered in Minneapolis specializing in bankruptcy law. Appointed to the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees in January 2011.
