MSBA Task Force on Challenges to the Practice of Law

The MSBA Council in December resolved to establish a "Challenges to the Practice of Law" (CPOT) task force to explore and make recommendations regarding how MSBA can help members in responding to emerging challenges to their practices.  This is one of two task forces being formed in the wake of an Assembly discussion of challenges facing legal education and the practice of law.

The CPOT task force is expected to explore, among others, challenges posed by technology, student debt loads, and activities that may represent the unauthorized practice of law.  Members are encouraged to contact the task force with suggestions regarding challenges to be addressed and areas in which MSBA might have an impact.

Cochaired by attorneys Susan Minsberg (St. Paul) and Paul Floyd (Minneapolis), the task force members include: Scott Becker (Eagan); Roy Ginsburg (Minnetonka); Paul Godfrey (St. Paul); Kat Graham (Minneapolis); Jessica Hofrichter (Edina); David Jacobsen (Northfield); Shaun Jamison (St. Louis Park); Jeanne Kosieradzki (St. Paul); Dennis O’Toole (Grand Rapids); Todd Scott (Minneapolis); Susan Wiens (Minneapolis); Susan LeDray (Minneapolis); and David Bateson (St. Paul). The task force is staffed by Judson Haverkamp, who can be reached at jhaverkamp@mnbar.org or by phone at (612) 278-6333.

The task force is expected to return its report and recommendations by the end of calendar year 2014 but in no case later than June 30, 2015.
