Legislative Committee

All submissions for the Legislative Committee, including Bill Summary Forms and Certificates of Legislative Position, should be submitted to
Bryan Lake of the MSBA at: blake@mnbar.org

The MSBA Legislative Committee is a standing committee of the MSBA Assembly. It is made up of members of the Assembly who are appointed each year by the MSBA President.

Purpose
The legislative committee reviews legislative proposals and makes recommendations to the MSBA Assembly, and coordinates the lobbying efforts of the MSBA. (Read the entire Charge of the Committee.)

Deadlines & Timeline

2012 Legislative Session
The session opens on January 24, 2012. Important deadlines for sections and others interested in the Legislative Committee’s vetting process are:

10/28/11: Deadline for legislative proposals of sections or other groups to be submitted to the Legislative Committee

10/31/11: Legislative proposals of sections or other groups will be circulated to all sections for review and comment

11/18/11: Deadline for comments from sections on legislative proposals from other sections

11/30/11, 12/1/11: Legislative Committee meets to review proposals of sections and other groups; act on recommendations to Assembly

12/16/11: Assembly meets and votes on legislative proposals
